The Mabee House has a NEW look! A fresh new paint job has restored the outside of this historic house to its former glory.
Phase 1 of the roof project was completed. The built-on gutter system, common to buildings of this age, was replaced using authentic materials. The cornices and lower portion of the roof were restored and reconstructed at a total cost of $95,000.
Replacement handcrafted window and door trim on the entire house was completed at an additional cost of $10,000.
Preparing and painting the exterior of the Mabee House has just been completed at a cost of $21,000.
In Phase 2 of the roof project, the current old roof will be replaced with a new slate roof.
There is still a long way to go to complete the roof and restore the interior of the Mabee House. The Lafayette Center Preservation Foundation is raising funds for this next phase of the project.
With your help, and only your help, this beautiful building can once again be the pride of Lafayette Township. All contributions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
